VIVAnews – Jatna Supriatna was selected as the recipient of the the Blazt OBD 2011 in the field of Achmad science. Jatna Supriatna, who is a biologist and leading conservation fighters.

The prize will be awarded tonight, Sunday, August 14, 2011 in Jakarta. The event was attended by a number of figures and scientists from various disciplines.  This event is already traced the judges and mengangap Jatna deserves appreciation.

It strengthen the importance of Wallace Area by making Sulawesi and surrounding islands as natural laboratories to deduce evolutionary processes. He discovered secondary intergradasi and hybridization in the region.

Primate hybrids are found the world's attention, because it allows the occurrence of hybridization and genetic changes of behavior as well as other biological properties. In addition to the Primate hybrids and a new species of monkey, he also finds a new virus in a monkey-tailed West Java.

In the Center as a researcher and lecturer aside, Jatna also led several important institutions that are related to his profession as a biologist. In 1999 he was elected as Chairman of the Indonesia Biologist Association. In 2006, he was appointed President of the South East Asia Primatologist Association, and in 2007 he became a Chairman of the World Conservation Union-SSC PSG South East Asia.

Jatna has written 10 books on biodiversity and the environment of Indonesia, and has published over 100 articles in various international scientific journals.
