The Tumor Could Not Convict Idap Treatment
VIVAnews – Amnesty International urged the Government of Indonesia immediately treating political prisoners of Papua, Wenda Kimanus, which is currently suffering from a stomach tumor. Kimanus who was arrested at Nabire needs to be transferred to a hospital in Jayapura that deserve that gets the treatment accordingly.
It disclosed Josef Roy Benedict, a member of the Amnesty International Campaign to Indonesia & Timor-Leste. "He has a tumor in her stomach and continued to throw up. The prison doctor has confirmed that he needs surgery, however, did not have medical facilities Nabire is adequate, so that should be immediately moved to a proper Hospital in Jayapura, "said Josef.
According to Josef, Kimanus care it according to a Government Regulation No. 32/1999 of the terms and procedures for the implementation of the rights of Inmates in prison. All medical costs for treatment of detainees in hospitals should be borne by the State. "But, (in fact) the prison authorities refused to pay transport and medical costs," said Josef Roy Benedict in electronic messages.
If the State is not fulfilling its obligations in accordance with the rules that bear all the costs of the treatment of prisoners, then Indonesia was considered to be in violation of UNITED NATIONS agencies, the agreement on the principle of the protection of all persons detained or imprisoned.
To that end, Amnesty International urged the Government of Indonesia to ensure, "That Kimanus Wenda receive full and immediate access to medical treatment that is right, that he needed, let Kimanus Wenda traveled to Jayapura in order to receive emergency medical care as recommended, cover the cost of such treatment in accordance with UNITED NATIONS Bodies for the Protection Of all persons under any form of Detention or Imprisonment (Principle 28)."
Amnesty International stated, if the Government of Indonesia refused medical treatment to Wenda Kimanus, it is a treatment that cruel, inhuman or degrading.
In April 2003 Kimanus Wenda was accused of attacking a military warehouse in Wamena, Papua, alleged that he:. According to his lawyer, he arbitrarily detained in Military Barracks, command of the District of Wamena 1702 by military and police and was initially denied access to lawyers.
By Wenda Kimanus, he got a bad treatment when police interrogate him a translator is not given the police during interrogation, although Kimanus Wenda does not speak bahasa Indonesia. He was forced to sign a confession he can't read.
In January 2004, he was sentenced to 20 years in prison for "rebellion" under section 106 and 110 of the CRIMINAL CODE of Indonesia. He continued to suffer physically.
