Since 1978, Tanjung Datu region of Indonesia

VIVAnews -Ministry of defence of Indonesia through Public Communication Centre, Tanjung Datu stated is not a OBP (Outstanding Boundary Problems) since 1978. According to, the head of the Center for public communication of the Ministry of Defense Brigadier General TNI Hartind Tanjung Datu Asrin, the area was designated a region of Indonesia on the basis of the agreement between Indonesia and Malaysia in 1978.

In a press release the Ministry of defence of Indonesia mentioned, Tanjung Datu is a resident of the village of Temajuk, inhabited by about 493 head family with an area of approximately $ 4750 square kilometers and a population of approximately around 1883, consisted of two hamlets namely Gull Wulan Village and Maludin Village.

About the polemics of patok shifts, he explained, actually border points still can be seen from satellite imagery. "His name patok or coordinates can be seen on satellite imagery dont , can be changed," he said.

Currently, the land border between Indonesia and Malaysia have 9 OBP. Western sector: Indonesia and West Kalimantan/Sarawak/Malaysia there are 4 OBP, i.e. Rock Aum, Buan, mountain Kingdom, d. 400.  While the sector East: East Kalimantan and Sabah/Indonesia/Malaysia have 5 OBP, i.e. Sebatik Island, Sinapad River, Semantipal River, B2700-C600 and C500-B3100.

Ninth OBP was still in the process of negotiations at JIM (The Joint Malaysia-Indonesia Boundary Committee on The International Boundary Survey and Demarcation) between the Indonesia Delegation led by Secretary General of the Ministry of the Interior with Malaysia. JIM is an annual gathering where JIM to-36 will be held later this year in Indonesia.
